QUOTE OF THE MONTH
"I hope Bochy doesn't leave. I don't have any stats or anything, I just like him and would be a little sad if he left." --jbox, Gaslamp Ball

PADRES IN 2006 PLAYOFFS!
There were more than a few of us who were worried when Bochy lost his mustache--afraid, perhaps, that it was the secret source from which he drew his considerable power. How foolish of us! The Mayor, as he is known around the campaign headquarters, has once again led his team to the playoffs. Go Padres!

I too am totally confused right now. Does anyone know when the next runoff is?

Bochy self-promoting...himself

FRIARS WIN THE WEST
On September 28th, the Padres secured their spot at the top of their division, prompting Bochy for Mayor supporters to redefine the "magic number" as 1: number of San Diego mayoral candidates holding three NL West titles. Congrats to Bochy and the Padres!

BOCHY HANGS TOUGH IN PRIMARY, LOOKS TOWARDS RUNOFF
Strengthened by the encouraging numbers in the July 26th mayoral primary, the Bochy for Mayor campaign team is pleased to announce the extension of Bochy's quest for San Diego's top job. Leading candidates Donna Frye and Jerry Sanders will face off against write-in favorite Bochy once again in the November 8th runoff. Voters are advised that because there may not be an official "line" to write on or "bubble" to fill in for write-in candidates in November, the most effective way to make your voice heard is to write BOCHY in huge block letters across the entire ballot.

CONTRACT ON THE TABLE
Bochy receives three and a half-year $350,000 contract offer from the citizens of San Diego, with an option for four more years. Details are sketchy, but it looks like Boch will even receive full dental.

DECISION 2005: SAN DIEGO GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE
With a special mayoral election scheduled for July 26, 2005, San Diegans are faced with a decision that could make or break the future of America's Finest City.

Dick Murphy showed us just how bad things have become when he announced his plans to retire only months after winning re-election as mayor: clearly the actions of a very troubled man.

Recent imaginary interviews with a few of the candidates shed some light on their political platforms.

BOCHY
Padres manager since 1994, Padres player for 6 years before that, winningest manager in Padres history, 1996 National League Manager of the Year, National League West titles in 1996, 1998 and 2005, World Series in 1998

San Diego needs a strong new leader. What makes you the right person for the job?
Frye: I filled out my candidacy paperwork correctly this time! Yayyyyyy!
Francis: Sorry, I'm not taking questions today.
Swazzo: Being mayor can't be that tough. I dominate at SimCity!
Bochy: Soy el mejor entrenador de beisbol y no hay quien me contradiga. Bet you didn't know I spoke Spanish!

What can be done about San Diego's homeless problem?
Frye: Turn the Convention Center into a shelter.
Francis: Put them all on a bus to Seattle.
Swazzo: No cover charge at Moose McGillycuddy's!
Bochy: Build another stadium.

What about San Diego's financial crisis?
Frye: Uf, that's a toughie… I guess I'll write-in Bochy but fill in the bubble next to my own name… let the courts figure it out!
Francis: Tax cuts for the rich.
Swazzo: What financial crisis?
Bochy: Put in Hoffman!

This editor's choice? Bochy for mayor!

UNION-TRIBUNE SPINS THE BOCHY FOR MAYOR WHEEL
In an article titled "Fans of Padres manager support their candidate," appearing in the June 11th San Diego Union-Tribune, columnist Diane Bell had this to say:
"Bochy for mayor? He's about the only one who didn't jump into the July 26 election, with its slate of 11 candidates. So, why is there a Bochyformayor.com Web site, complete with mayoral candidate interviews, video clips and 'Bochy for Mayor' T-shirt sales?"

BOCHY'S CORNER
"I'd continue with what we're doing downtown. I think we have the greatest downtown in the U.S. I'd put a football stadium down here and make this the greatest downtown in the world. I think we're on our way now. This ballpark's done a lot for us, I think we all see that, and, you know, to add a football stadium down here, I think, would even add more."
